“International Workshop on Construction Safety” and “International Workshop on 2035 Strategy for China's Construction”

On July 3-5, 2019, “International Workshop on Construction Safety” and “International Workshop on 2035 Strategy for China’s Construction” were held in the Department of Construction Management, Tsinghua University. Professor Fang Dongping, chairman of council of school of civil engineering, attended and delivered a speech. Professor Chimay Anumba from University of Florida and professor Lucio Soibelman from University of Southern California chaired the workshops respectively. Fang Dongping made a summary. More than ten scholars at home and aboard attended the workshop to discuss the development status and security issues, the application and barriers of emerging technologies, and the future strategic goals and roadmap of China’s construction industry.

At the beginning of the workshop, Professor Fang delivered the welcome speech, introducing the contents and objectives of the workshop. He said that the series of the workshops had been held for several years, and many excellent suggestions had been put forward in the past workshops, which played an important role in implementing the 2035 strategy for China’s Construction.

During the workshop, Professor Guo Hongling introduced the research contents from the perspectives of human-machine coordination, data-driven and people factors in the field of construction safety, and proposed the future research plan and framework based on this. Professor Fang Dongping shared the LCB approach and outcomes of it, as well as the strategic goals and roadmap for 2035 strategy. Professor Yan Wang and Professor Yang Miang Goh made reports entitled "The US Construction Industry" and "the Singapore's version for its construction industry" respectively. The above topics were discussed heatedly and different viewpoints were exchanged from participates.
