China Civil Engineering Society (CCES) has recently issued the “2020 Outstanding Graduates Award Winners” list, and Jieyu Chen, who recently joined the research group, was successfully selected.
The Outstanding Graduates Awards of Colleges and Universities of CCES (referred to as Outstanding Graduates Award) was set up by CCES in 1989. The purpose of this award is to commend and reward outstanding graduates who majored in civil engineering (including engineering management) and had excellent moral and academic qualities. The Outstanding Graduates Award is selected once a year and more than 800 outstanding graduates have been awarded so far. The selection of the 2020 Outstanding Graduates Award was organized and carried out by CCES Education Committee. After being recommended by civil engineering (including engineering management) colleges and universities all over the country, reviewed by the review committee, and approved by the secretariat of CCES, 46 students (including 31 Civil Engineering students and 15 Engineering Management students) were awarded the title of Highly Effective and Outstanding Graduates of CCES in 2020.

Jieyu Chen completed her undergraduate studies at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. She also accumulated some international study experience in the UK where she studied for six months on a CSC exchange program. During her undergraduate period, Jieyu has achieved excellent academic performance and has been awarded the “Top 3 Outstanding Student Award” of the her university for three consecutive years. She has been awarded the National Scholarship, the Baosteel Education Outstanding Student Award, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology undergraduate outstanding students with excellent ratings award. She used to serve as the vice-chairman of the student union and counselor assistant of the School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, and had been awarded as an outstanding communist youth league cadre of Huazhong University of Science and Technology many times. In addition, she participated in the 6th 6th "Yangtze River-Volga" Sino-Russian Youth Forum as a representative of the Hubei Youth League, and was awarded the title of Excellent Volunteer as a volunteer of the 7th Military World Games.

At the beginning of this semester, Jieyu Chen officially enrolled in Tsinghua University and entered joined the research group to study for a master degree in management science and engineering, researching on emergency behavior, evacuation and simulation.
